New to our Resource Page is “Balance with Babz: Yoga.” Barbara, known as Babz, is an occupational lymphedema therapist and certified yoga teacher. She is also certified in yoga4cancer, LoveYourBrain, Yoga for Trauma training, and reiki attuned.
ONLINE YOGA CLASSES WITH EMPHASIS IN LYMPHATIC FLOW
Babz specializes in cancer rehab and the lymphatic system and works in an orthopedic setting for upper extremity impairments. She integrates her clinical techniques into her yoga practice. Babz has studied the effects of yoga and mindfulness on multiple populations. She is passionate and eager to introduce her wellness program, Balance with Babz Yoga, to help teach and support people dealing with lymphatic issues.
BALANCE WITH BABZ
Babz began teaching lymphatic yoga flows when she became a certified lymphedema therapist with a knowledge of the lymphatic system and an awareness of how the fluid moves throughout our body. “Balance With Babz” lymphatic flow was born from her experience as an occupational therapist and a certified yoga instructor.
WHAT IS LYMPHATIC FLOW YOGA
Lymphatic flow yoga is a mindful movement practice focusing on improving lymphatic health. Guided self-manual lymph drainage (MLD), emphasis on breath work, awareness of the lymph pathways, and using muscle pumps to assist lymph flow to cleanse and clear the mind and body all help in the lymphatic flow movement.
COMPONENTS OF THE PRACTICE INCLUDE:
- Deep breathing (diaphragmatic breathing)
- Self Manual Lymph Drainage (self MLD)
- Muscle Pump Activation (asana – yoga poses)
- Mindfulness (feel to heal)
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
Improving lymphatic health is a great way to improve your digestive, immune, and mental health. Lymphatic draining can reduce bloating, release excess fluid in the body, and balance the vital life force energy that flows through all living things.
Lymphatic Flow Yoga helps us to understand the pathways and body maps of the beautiful lymphatic rivers running through our bodies. This practice allows us to encourage physical and mental relief and restoration. It’s been described as a healing community, a safe place to come home to your body.
