GRATEFUL FOR ALL OF YOU
Thanksgiving week here in America gives us all a chance to pause and contemplate our many gifts and all we have to be grateful for. Personally, I am incredibly thankful for this business! I am so grateful for all the people I serve and the therapists I partner with. Not to mention the reps from various companies, I learn, grow, and develop my business with their help and support. I have developed and grown through this business and the lessons that lymphedema and all of you have taught me.
LESSONS FROM LYMPHEDEMA
Thank you for your stories, vulnerability, and the many lessons you have taught me. Lymphedema is a chronic and progressive disease, and it causes no small amount of frustration and pain. Patience, persistence, fortitude, and courage are just some of the attributes I’ve seen my customers exhibit as they battle this challenging disease. Lymphedema is undoubtedly not for the faint of heart. On the other side, I have also witnessed the joy, relief, and independence gained from those with the tenacity to find the answers and put their health and wellness at the forefront of their lives. You so inspire me!
SELF-CARE
Working in this business has also given me the gift of realizing how important self-care is, not only when you have lymphedema but for all of us. This is an area in my life that I have significantly struggled with. One of the best lessons lymphedema helped me to realize was that self-care is not selfish but essential. Countless times, I have seen customers struggle with their need to make themselves and their condition a priority in their lives and not an afterthought. It’s not always easy, and you may have to battle with some resistance, but allowing for self-care is transformative.
EDUCATION AND GROWTH
Furthermore, lymphedema is still a mystery to many people, and this disease is not well known. This has allowed me to research and learn much about the lymph system and how it affects our health and well-being. Participating in Lymphedema Seminars and attending lectures and classes has dramatically improved my knowledge and understanding of how amazing our bodies are. How diet, exercise, and self-care can significantly affect our health. Making small, continual steps toward our goals is the best way to make significant life changes. I have a little turtle statue on my desk to remind me of this: stay the course – keep going. You are worth the time and attention!
GRATEFUL HEART
Owning my own business has its challenges and setbacks, but I feel blessed to be a part of this lymphedema world. Thank you for the gift of being able to be of service. I am so grateful for every one of you. Keep the faith! Be strong and courageous! We are much stronger together than we ever were alone. I hope each of you has cause to be thankful this week and that your time with your loved ones is joyful and healing to your heart and soul.
