INTRODUCING CUSTOM COMPRESSION GARMENTS
We have been measuring and ordering custom compression garments at The Compression Closet for many years. However, we have never had that option on our website until now. After having more requests for such garments, we determined it was time to add this option for our therapists’ convenience. Many wonderful over-the-counter compression garments work well for lymphedema. However, in some cases, nothing will work, as well as a custom flat knit garment for lymphedema.
FLAT KNIT AND CIRCULAR KNIT
The custom flat knit stocking will work better in many cases for lymphedema. This is because there is less elasticity, and the flat knit forms a more stable barrier for the limb. The stiffer material provides pressure on the tissue to reduce swelling. As a result, the flat knit garment offers excellent therapeutic results. The density of the fabric is consistent throughout the garment, even with significant differences in sizes and shapes. This stiffer fabric also better maintains the gaps in skin folds and prevents cutting in, which sometimes occurs with circular knit.
Many manufacturers of compression stockings make custom garments. Currently, we have forms on our website for the Jobst and Juzo flat knit garments. We have also added a brand-new nighttime garment created by Pure Medical. The Pure Night line of compression is a flat-knit quilted garment. Innovative and creative, Pure Night provides a comfortable solution to nighttime compression garments.
PRICING OF CUSTOM GARMENTS
Unlike over-the-counter compression garments, we cannot list the pricing of custom garments because of varying pricing with different options. To obtain a custom compression garment quote, send the measurements with options marked, and we will return a quote. If you would like a range of the average pricing for a specific garment, we can also provide that.
HOW TO ORDER
If you want a quote for a custom garment, go to the custom section under the “Shop” drop-down menu. Here you will find the custom option.
Print out the order form after choosing the manufacturer and the garment you want. Once complete with all the necessary information, send this form to The Compression Closet for your quote. You can scan and email the measurements to [email protected] or take a photo and text it to 815-342-0370. You can also fax the measurements to 815 364 2781.
You will receive a quote in most cases within 24 hours.
RETURN POLICY FOR CUSTOM GARMENTS
These are custom-made garments specifically designed and created for individuals; we cannot offer our 30-day return policy. However, if the garment does not fit properly, the manufacturer will allow us a remake of the garment.
Wash and wear the garment at least two to three times before any adjustments are made. You have 30 days to request a remake. However, most therapists and customers can tell within a few days whether or not the garment needs adjusting.
ARE CUSTOM GARMENTS RIGHT FOR YOU?
When choosing compression garments for lymphedema, it’s best to consult your medical professional. Many factors go into determining the correct compression garment, such as age, mobility, strength, cost, as well as the size and shape of the limb. Flat-knit compression garments can benefit those with lymphedema but are not for everyone.
